Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026 | Effective immediately
Unlike traditional image compression sites that upload your photos to remote servers, TrueCompress operates 100% client-side inside your web browser using HTML5 Canvas and native JavaScript APIs. When you drag and drop or upload an image to compress, all re-encoding, resizing, and optimization happen locally in your computer or phone's memory. No image files or personal data are ever uploaded, stored, or processed on remote servers.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
When using TrueCompress, you retain absolute ownership and control over your files:
- No Image Uploads: Files are never transferred across the network to our servers.
- No Cloud Storage: Images exist temporarily in your browser's working memory (`Blob` objects) and are immediately discarded upon closing or refreshing the page.
- No Account Required: You never need to sign up, provide an email address, or create a password to compress images.
2. Local Execution and Browser Sandbox
TrueCompress runs inside your browser's secure sandbox. You can verify this independently at any time by opening your browser's Developer Tools (Network tab) or by disconnecting your internet connection before compressing an image: TrueCompress will continue to compress your images completely offline.
3. Cookies, Consent Mode v2 & Google AdSense
To keep TrueCompress 100% free with unlimited usage, we display ads via Google AdSense. In compliance with GDPR and Google Consent Mode v2:
- Advertising and tracking cookies are set to denied by default until you provide explicit consent through our cookie preferences banner.
- Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on user visits. You can manage your ad preferences via Google Ads Settings or opt out at aboutads.info.
- Anonymous aggregate analytics may be gathered to measure site performance and browser compatibility. No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected.
